TradingMarkets 7 Stocks You Need to Know for Today

Here are 7 stocks for traders for today from TradingMarkets.com:

  • Up more than 2% in advance of its earnings report due out before the market opens on Thursday is GameStop Corporation (GME | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating). The stock has traded in $2 range below its 200-day moving average for the past two weeks. Analysts are expecting GameStop to report per share earnings of 41 cents.

  • Also reporting quarterly earnings before the bell on Thursday is Hormel Foods (HRL | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), which closed lower after closing higher for for six consecutive trading days above its 200-day moving average. Per share earnings of 50 cents is what analysts are expecting to hear from Hormel Foods.

  • Shares of McDonald's (MCD | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) soared by more than 5% intraday on Wednesday, closing at their highest levels since early February. MCD continues to trade below its 200-day moving average.

  • A number of retailers are reporting after the market closes on Thursday including Foot Locker (FL | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) and Hibbett Sports (HIBB | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating). Analysts are expecting EPS of 13 cents from Foot Locker, and per share earnings of 38 cents from Hibbett Sports. Both stocks pulled back to or toward their 200-day moving averages on Wednesday.

  • Pulling back by more than 10% over the past two days while trading above its 200-day moving average are shares of Palm Inc. (PALM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), which were downgraded to "underperform" by an analyst at Needham & Company.

  • Analysts are expecting per share earnings of 30 cents from The Gap (GPS | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) when the company announces quarterly earnings after the market closes on Thursday. Shares of the retailer reversed after moving higher for most of the trading day on Wednesday.
