The stocks that investors at PowerRatings.net have been investigating over the past 24 hours include a company from the Diversified Utilities industry, another from the Oil & Gas Drilling and Exploration business and a popular videogame maker.

Every week at PowerRatings.net we stop to take a look at the stocks that investors are most curious about. Whether these stocks come to the attention of active investors and long term traders because of news headlines or previous reporting here at PowerRatings.net, we always find something new or interesting among the stocks that make up our Most Requested PowerRatings roster.

Let's take a look at the three stocks in today's report.

First up is Diversified Utilities company, Ameren Corporation (AEE@AEE | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating). Ameren owns and operates a variety of rate-regulated and non-rate-regulated energy generation and transmission businesses involving both electricity and natural gas sources. The company is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ameren Corporation has a Long Term PowerRating of 9, and is among the highest rated stocks in the Diversified Utilities industry, which has an average Industry PowerRating of 6. As a 9-rated stock, Ameren belongs to that class of stocks which, according to our research has been higher one year later more than 79% of the time. Compare this to the reliability of the average stock, which has been higher one year later less than 68% of the time.

Ameren has a P/E of 14.10 and a dividend yield of 5.90.

A relative newcomer to our PowerRatings lists is Bronco Drilling Company Inc. (BRNC@BRNC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating). Bronco Drilling Company is that most interesting of stocks that has a Long Term PowerRating of 10 - our highest rating - yet comes from an industry group with an exceptionally low Industry PowerRating of 2.

10-rated stocks, based on the work we have done looking at thousands of simulated stock trades between 1995 and 2007, have been both the most reliable and the best performing stocks after one year that investors are likely to find. In addition to being higher one year later more than 80% of the time, stocks with Long Term PowerRatings of 10 have also tended to gain more than 20% in a year's time. This compares very favorably to the average stock, which has tended to gain between 12-13% after one year according to our historical testing.

Last but not least is a stock that has become more and more familiar with PowerRatings.net readers: Activision (ATVI@ATVI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating).

Unlike Ameren and Bronco Drilling, videogame maker Activision has been no stranger to PowerRatings.net. We wrote about Activision last week as part of our coverage of stocks that had earned PowerRatings upgrades, and the stock has been featured in our PowerRatings Weekly Outlook as one of the more notable stocks for investors to keep an eye on.

As of today, Activision has a Long Term PowerRating of 8 - one notch lower than the 9-rating the stock had earned last week. However, the stock's 8 rating still makes it among the better stocks for investors looking for reliability and outperformance relative to the average stock. We found that 8-rated stocks have been higher one year later more than 74% of the time and have tended to gain in excess of 17% in a year's time.

Looking for more long-term solutions to your investing problems? Don't let the volatility of this market lead you to miss out on stocks you'll be glad to have bought a year from now.
