Sirtris Pharma Says SRT501 Slows Retinal Ganglion Cell Loss During Optic Neuritis - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Sirtris Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (SIRT | news | PowerRating | PR Charts ) revealed that its SRT501, when orally administered, slows retinal ganglion cell loss during optic neuritis, which is a neurodegenerative eye disorder, and also suppresses neurological dysfunction in a preclinical model of Multiple Sclerosis.

The pharmaceutical company noted that Kenneth Shindler of the University of Pennsylvania Scheie Eye Institute in Philadelphia would present these results, at the preclinical data at the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society annual meeting on March 10, 2008.
