PR Charts ) said its subsidiary Barr Laboratories has challenged the patents listed by Sanofi-Aventis for Eloxatin, 5 mg/mL Injectable.

Further to the acceptance for filing the company notified the New Drug Application and Sanofi-Aventis. Subsequently Sanofi-Aventis and Debiopharm S.A filed suit in the US District Court of New Jersey to prevent Barr from proceeding with the commercialization of the product.
The company noted that Eloxatin in combination with infusional 5-FU/LV, is indicated for adjuvant treatment of stage III colon cancer patients who have undergone complete resection of the primary tumor. Further, it is indicated for the treatment of advanced carcinoma of the colon or rectum.
As per the statistics Eloxatin has sales of around $1.1 billion in the US for the 12 months ended October 2007.
BRL is currently up $0.67 or 1.29% at $52.48 on a volume of 635K shares.
SNY is currently trading at $48.64, up $0.74 or 1.54% on a volume of 888,990 shares.
