With this deal, UCB can also get future joint promotion opportunities with other products in development by Teva Specialty Pharmaceuticals.
The first product to be jointly promoted by the two companies in the U.S. is Teva's ProAirHFA or albuterol sulfate Inhalation Aerosol. ProAirHFA is a hydrofluroalkane or HFA albuterol sulfate inhaler in the U.S.
Earlier this week, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries received the tentative FDA approval to market its generic version of Eisai's Alzheimer's treatment Aricept or Donepezil Hydrochloride Tablets 5 mg and 10 mg.
The brand product had annual sales of about $1.6 billion in the U.S. for the twelve months ended September 30, 2007.
TEVA is currently trading at $47.27, up 27 cents.
