(RTTNews) - Group 1 Automotive (GPI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) dropped steeply throughout most of the first 45 minutes of trading on Tuesday, before lacking direction throughout the rest of the session.

The stock extended a downtrend that began in mid-May and finished at its lowest level since April 2001, down $1.56 at $15.08.
