(RTTNews) - With a rise in the price of precious metals, Silver Standard Resources Inc. (SSRI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) gapped open higher on Thursday and continued to climb throughout the day.

The stock ended the session at $27.69 up $3.27 from Wednesday's close.

The advance took the stock over recent resistance and to its highest level in two weeks.
