Both groups are looking for ways to keep more dollars in the community.

The results will be used to help shape this year's "Owensboro Has It" campaign, which encourages people to shop Owensboro first, he said.
Rose said the survey found that 21 percent of Daviess Countians go to Evansville at least once a month to eat, and 15 percent go that often for entertainment.
Only 1 percent of Daviess Countians do their grocery shopping in Evansville.
Ninety-two percent get their prescriptions filled in Owensboro and 94 percent say their primary care physician is in Owensboro.
Only 10 percent of those surveyed said they shop in Louisville or Nashville at least once a month.
Other findings include:
-- 69 percent of local homes have Internet access. But Rose said those who use the Internet at work would probably bring the total of local families with Internet access to about 80 percent.
-- 52 percent have high-speed Internet service.
-- 20 percent plan to buy a vehicle this year.
-- 19 percent plan to buy a major appliance this year.
-- 26 percent plan to buy new furniture this year.
-- 66 percent work 35 or more hours a week.
-- 19 percent work the night shift.
-- 86 percent say they live and work in Daviess County.
Greg Garrard, co-owner of Great Harvest Bread, was the first winner of the chamber's monthly "Big Ideas For Owensboro" contest.
