Efe offers Spanish election coverage via cell phones

Madrid, Feb 22, 2008 (EFE via COMTEX) -- VOD | news | PowerRating | PR Charts -- Efe, Spain's international news agency, launched a special news service Friday covering Spain's general elections over cell phones that are equipped to access the Internet.

Customers of Movistar, Vodafone and Orange will be able to get the most important news about the electoral campaign, with statements by the principal candidates, platforms of the different parties and anecdotes of the day.

Agencia Efe has a service of text-message alerts and multimedia (text and photo) with the three mobile-phone operators on a line directed to the general public carrying the most important news of the day.

The agency also offers separate lines of specialized information for professionals dealing with Spanish and international current affairs, as well as news on the economy, the media and society.

Efe also has a personalized service of alerts for companies, with text-message alerts and e-mail for instant reception of news about the company itself, the competition and the sector in which it operates.

Efe's more than 2,500 subscribers worldwide have access to a daily average of more than 2,000 news items produced by some 3,000 journalists working in 180 countries.

Besides text, Agencia Efe offers photographs, audio, video and multimedia as it provides news coverage in Spanish, Portuguese, English, Arabic and Catalan. EFE
