Nortel said the solutions, which were delivered in cooperation with its channel partner CDW Healthcare, including Nortel's Asset Tracking and Management Solution and Collaborative Clinical Solution. It claimed the solutions combine advanced wireless technology and clinical software with network consulting, application, implementation, support and management from the company's Global Services offering.
According to Nortel, its Asset Tracking and Management Solution provides real-time location and status information on equipment and patients, improving efficiency, streaming patient workflow by up to 20% and reducing loss by up to 40%. It locates monitors and other medical devices using Wi-Fi tags, wireless access points and asset tracking software, with the Wi-Fi tags also used for real-time location of patients.
The Collaborative Clinical solution combines unified communications with the real-time location in order to direct alerts and information to a clinician's mobile device or nearby phone, from clinical systems, without human intervention, helping doctors and nurses to obtain the necessary information more quickly.
