Feb 26, 2008 (PR Newswire Europe via COMTEX) -- GKNLY | news | PowerRating | PR Charts -- style='font-size:11px;'>GKN Board Appointment GKN plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Parry-Jones, CBE as a non-executive Director with effect from 1st March 2008. Richard Parry-Jones (aged 56) retired at the end of 2007 from the Ford Motor Company as Group Vice-President Global Product Development and Group Chief Technical Officer, after 38 years service. In this role he led Research and Development for Ford worldwide and was responsible for the functional leadership of all of Ford's 30,000 engineers and scientists. Since retiring from Ford he has been engaged in consultancy, public policy development and educational projects, specialising in the technology, environmental and transport fields. He is also a non-executive director of a number of non listed companies. Richard obtained a first class honours degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Salford, Manchester. In 1995 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Loughborough University in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the motor industry and engineering education training. He is an elected fellow of both the Royal Academy of Engineers and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Roy Brown, Chairman of GKN plc, said "I am delighted to welcome Richard to the Board. His extensive experience of the automotive industry and in particular his expertise in related engineering technology will enable him to provide a significant contribution to the development of GKN's strategy." Until his resignation on 28th August 2004, Richard Parry-Jones was a director of Cosworth Racing Ltd, a subsidiary within the Ford Group of companies. It was placed into administration on 24th November 2004 having changed its name to FKAC (Northampton) Ltd following the sale of its business and assets. There are no other matters to be disclosed under 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority.
