Procter & Gamble Wins Patent Infringement Lawsuit

Feb 29, 2008 (financialwire.net via COMTEX) -- TEVA | news | PowerRating | PR Charts -- February 29, 2008 (FinancialWire) Procter & Gamble Co. (NYSE: PG | news | PowerRating | PR Charts ) said that it has won a patent infringement lawsuit against Teva Pharmaceuticals USA Inc., the North American headquarters of Teva Pharmaceuctical Industries Ltd. (NASDAQ: TEVA | news | PowerRating | PR Charts ) to protect P&G's rights to exclusively market the osteoporosis drug Actonel.

P&G filed the lawsuit in 2004 against Teva Pharmaceuticals USA. Teva wanted to market a generic version of Actonel in the United States and had claimed P&G's patent for the drug was not valid. P&G says the court ruling rejected that challenge.

Shares of Procter & Gamble fell 24 cents to close at $66.97, whiles shares of Teva fell 18 cents to close at $49.40.
