The Gateway, which is a part of the larger National Health Information Network initiative, will reportedly enable federal healthcare agencies and healthcare providers to more quickly and easily share patient information. This is expected to improve the quality of care and reduce costs.
Under the contract, Harris will provide the Gateway Core Services, customised software that can be easily downloaded by providers to quickly enable connection to the National Health Information Network. It will also provide a Software Development Kit which will enable providers to customise the Gateway while connected to the network.
Financial details of the contract were not available.
