In an editorial, the New Light of Myanmar said not only the public sector investment but also private's are being made in the country in the projects for development of infrastructure of various sectors including the transport sector.
The editorial's comment came after Myanmar Prime Minister General Thein Sein's attendance along with other heads of governments at the 3rd GMS Summit held in Vientiane, Laos on March 30-31.
The entrepreneurs from respective GMS member countries have dealt with challenges of improving trade and investment in the region, the drive for implementing agreement on transportation among regional members and beefing up participation of small and medium business in the export market, it said.
Noting that GMS members are now implementing the Strategic Framework for Action on Trade Facilitation and Investment individually and collectively, the editorial said Myanmar has signed the investment promotion and protection agreements with fellow GMS countries.
The editorial said that GMS countries will surely be in a position to enjoy fruitful results of mutually beneficial cooperation to a greater degree through concerted efforts made by businessmen and academicians of the member countries in various sectors.
According to the paper, Myanmar joined in signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) the roadmap for implementing GMS cross- border power trading and another MoU on acceleration in the drive for implementing GMS north-south economic corridor at the just- ended Vientiane GMS meeting.
