Vietnam, China's Guangxi province ink US$780 mln worth of deals

HANOI, Apr 4, 2008 (Asia In Focus via COMTEX) -- -- Businesses from Vietnam and China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region signed contracts in health, energy, mining and engineering worth US$780 million on April 3. The 37 contracts were signed in Hanoi during a four-day visit to Vietnam by a delegation of 100 Guangxi businesses.

* Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee Secretary Guo Shengkun revealed that two-way trade reached nearly US$2.4 billion last year, accounting for 15.7 per cent of the total amount between Vietnam and China. By the end of 2007, Guangxi had poured $74.2 million into 85 projects in Vietnam.

* The official highlighted traffic infrastructure, maritime transportation, mechanical manufacturing, agriculture and border gate economic development as prioritised areas for investment in the near future.
