Hanoi, Apr 04, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- -- ? The Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) has affirmed that helping Vietnam develop its supporting industry is one of his organisation?s priorities in the coming time.

Talking with a Vietnam News Agency reporter during his working visit to Viet Nam from April 2-4, JETRO Chairman Yasuo Hayashi said that JETRO will collaborate with Viet Nam to organise an exhibition on the supporting industry in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of the year.

?This will be a good opportunity for Japanese businesses and Vietnamese components suppliers to meet and seek cooperation possibilities,? said Hayashi.

JETRO has cooperated with the Vietnam Trade Promotion Department (Vietrade) to host three similar exhibitions since 2004. The 2007 exhibition saw more than 130 Vietnamese and Japanese businesses sign 50 cooperation agreements.

JETRO plans to work with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Kansai Economic Federation of Japan to organise discussions on the Vietnamese and Japanese economy in Osaka and Tokyo this September, with the development of Vietnam ?s subsidiary industry high on their agenda, the JETRO leader said.

According to the result of JETRO?s annual surveys, most Japanese businesses said that Vietnam is one of the most attractive investment destinations. The survey also revealed that more Japanese businesses would invest in Vietnam if the nation can develop its subsidiary industry.
