Sen. Salazar Lauds the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce for Leadership in Attempting to Defuse State's Business, Labor Dispute

DENVER, CO - In a letter today to the Chair of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce, Mr. John Hughes, United States Senator Ken Salazar lauded Mr. Hughes and the organization for taking a position opposing the proposed so-called "right-to-work" measure.

In his letter, Senator Salazar notes that if the competing business and labor initiatives go forward, both sides will waste millions of dollars on campaigns that could be invested in Colorado jobs and needs.

Senator Salazar went on to write, "I commend the South Metro Denver Chamber for being committed to these same views and for taking a position opposing the proposed so-called "right to work" measure and those put forward by labor unions, all of which would drastically alter Colorado's business and labor laws, if adopted.

"I encourage other business organizations to follow your lead. With such opposition by business groups, it is my hope that both sides will simply withdraw their measures, allowing us all to devote our time and resources to the real needs of Colorado's economy."
