Vietnam, France head to higher level in relations

Paris, Apr 23, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- -- ? French President Nicolas Sarkozy has encouraged France and Vietnam to put more effort into lifting their relationship, particularly in economic and commercial cooperation.

The President made the statement while receiving Vietnamese Ambassador to France Le Kinh Tai on April 22.

President Sarkozy expressed his admiration of the land and people of Vietnam . He said he was impressed with the country?s economic achievements and the development of the two countries? cooperation so far.

The French President noted that he would be happy to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time in 2009.

Ambassador Tai highlighted progress made in the relations between the two countries, citing the implementation of high-level agreements reached during the official visit to France by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in October 2007.

The Vietnamese diplomat reiterated determinations of leaders of the two countries in building a traditional friendship and long-term comprehensive cooperation on the basis of mutual trust in the 21st century.
