Vietnam, Tajikistan pledge to boost ties

Moscow, May 02, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- -- President Emamoli Rakhmon of Tajikistan has emphasised the need for both his country and Vietnam to improve the quality of bilateral cooperation in economy, culture and science-technology to match their potential.

During his reception of Vietnam?s new Ambassador Le Van Toan in Dushanbe on April 30, President Rakhmon said Tajikistan always respects commercial ties with Vietnam, a close friend and an emerging economy with high growth in recent years.

? Tajikistan and Vietnam have enjoyed a traditional friendship, always extending mutual assistance in national construction and defence to each other as well as in international forums,? said the Head of State of Tajikistan.

He also reiterated an invitation to President Nguyen Minh Triet of Vietnam for an early visit to Tajikistan .

For his part, Ambassador Toan attributed Vietnam ?s success in renewal as well as the improvement of the nation?s international prestige to the great support from the international community, including Tajikistan .

? Vietnam will do its utmost to strengthen and develop traditional friendship and cooperation with Tajikistan , especially in economy, culture and science-technology,? concluded the diplomat.-
