Warrant of China Telecom Booming

SHENZHEN, May 12, 2008 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- HUWHY | news | PowerRating | PR Charts -- Hong Kong stock closed slightly down on the weakening U.S. stocks. The broader market saw a total transaction volume of HKD 77 yesterday. The warrant market recorded a transaction of HKD 19.5 billion, accounting for 25.4% of the total transaction.

Call warrant of China Telecom soared 2.59% and closed at HKD 5.54 on the news that the Chinese telecom regulators had finalized the date for telecom industry restructuring. Stock price of Hutchison Whampoa climbed 1.92%. In the meanwhile, its call warrant increased 46.71%.

China Life recorded a warrant transaction volume of HKD 2.87 billion on May 8, accounting for 14.7% of the total trading volume of the warrant market, ranking the second in terms of the volume. China Mobile followed with HKD 1.3 billion warrant trading volume, taking the third place. PetroChina and CNOOC respectively scored a warrant transaction volume of HKD 1.19 billion and HKD 11.8 billion.
