BRIEF: Answers said no - Ask says yes: Ask.com will buy Lexico Publishing.

May 15, 2008 (Globes - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- IACI | news | PowerRating | PR Charts -- IAC/InterActive Corporation (Nasdaq: IACI | news | PowerRating | PR Charts ) subsidiary Ask.com is acquiring Lexico Publishing, the owner of Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com, reportedly for $100 million, after Answers Corporation (Nasdaq:ANSW) was unable to raise the capital to buy the company.

Earlier this week, Answers reported its first quarter financials. The company posted a net loss of $3.7 million, partly because of a $2.5 million payment to Lexico for the cancellation of the acquisition.
