Hanoi, May 27, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- -- Vietnam has sent its first workers to the US , paving the way for labour exports to the high-demanding market.

Recruited by the Tourist, Trade and Labour Export Joint Stock Company (TTLC) and the Advanced International Company (AIC), most of the 23 workers will be employed as welders and golf course labourers.

TTLC General Director Tran Luc says US workforce shortages are creating a great demand for foreign workers and his company is selecting a large number of skilled welders for US partners.

In addition to the TTLC, the Song Da International Manpower Supply and Trade Company (Simco) has won contracts to recruit hundreds of welders to work in the US .

Hundreds of labourers will also be sent to the US to work in agriculture as part of contracts signed by the AIC, Simco, the Air Service Supply Joint Stock Company (Airserco) and the Viracimex Labour Export Centre and their US partners.

The farm labourers will receive a monthly average salary of 1,300 USD.

The director of the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs? Overseas Worker Management Department, Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, said the US has emerged as an attractive market for Vietnamese labourers thanks to higher salaries compared with other countries such as the Republic of Korea and Japan .
