In Canada, the company secured an order for supply and commissioning of 22 wind turbines for the expansion of the Summerview wind farm near Pincher Creek in southern Alberta. The order covers V90-3.0 MW wind turbines, as well as a five-year service and maintenance agreement.
The order was placed by the Canadian power company TransAlta.
In Italy, Vestas Wind Systems' local subsidiary Vestas Italy received a contract for a total of 46 MW for the Giarratana project in Sicily.
The order, placed by Italy's largest wind energy operator IVPC through its project company Trinacria Eolica Srl, covers the supply and installation of seven units of the V90-1.8 MW turbine and 11 units of the V90-3.0 MW turbines, as well as a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution. The order also includes a two-year service agreement.
The financial details of the new orders were not disclosed.
Vestas Wind Systems, headquartered in Randers, Denmark, is the world's largest wind turbines manufacturer with some 35,000 wind turbines installed. The company has over 15,300 employees worldwide and reported sales of EUR4.86bn in 2007.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.26 euros (EUR).
