Delta Air Lines reports record May load factors

Jun 05, 2008 (AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION via COMTEX) -- DALW | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) has reported its highest-ever load factors for May.

The airline's load factors for system (82.9%), domestic (84.2%), Latin American routes (77.6%) and regional system (80.8%) were higher than any previous May on record.

System-wide traffic in May 2008 increased by 4.2% compared with May 2007, while capacity rose 1.5%.

Delta's international traffic grew 20.9% on a 17.4% increase in capacity and the airline said that it flew a record number of passengers on international services in May. The international load factor was 80.8%, an increase of 2.3 points compared with May 2007.

Domestic traffic in May 2008 decreased by 3.8% year-on-year while the airline's capacity on domestic routes was reduced by 6.5%.
