JAPAN CO INDEX PLANNING SAUDI CONTENT DISTRIBUTION VENTURE

TOKYO - Japanese co Index Holdings (TSE:4835) plans to get into the content distribution business in the Middle East, forming a joint venture in Saudi Arabia next month and bringing Japanese animated and game content to the region.

This venture will be set up in the capital city of Riyadh at a capitalization of 1 million dollars to US$1.5 million. Index Holdings will likely hold a stake of roughly 40 per cent, with a local investment firm owning the rest.

TAIWAN LAUNCHES ICT CROSSOVER PLATFORM FOR DIGITAL LIFE

TAIPEI - The Taiwan government, in collaboration with a number of private enterprises, launched a platform Thursday to develop information and communication technology (ICT) services so as to create a digital environment.

Since 2001, The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has had a strategic alliance with the local ICT industry via a Communication Leaders United Board, also known as the 3G Club. The club's main objective was to integrate third generation (3G) wireless communication with applications in various other fields, such as construction, medical care, and home-and-office security.

CHINA'S HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES SEEKS TO EXPAND EAST AFRICA SERVICES

NAIROBI - China's Huawei Technologies, a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, is seeking to expand its services to become a dominant player in telecoms services in East Africa.

The telecoms firm, which is marking its 10 years of business in East Africa said its expansion is in line with Huawei's strategy to expand its regional network by offering customer's specialized service and engineering teams to respond promptly to customer requirements.
