Jun 10, 2008 (WORLDWIDE COMPUTER PRODUCTS NEWS via COMTEX) -- FRSU | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Frost & Sullivan announced that its 2007 European Vehicle Security Product Line Strategy Award for access and security systems is presented to Cobra Automotive Technologies (Cobra).

The award is conferred in recognition of the company s ability to understand market needs, develop products and technologies that accommodate different market segments as well as introduce and strategically position new products to optimally balance its product line. Cobra offers a combination of automotive electronic systems (anti-theft and parking aid systems) and location-based systems (stolen vehicle recovery and fleet management).

Cobra has a complete range of anti-theft systems for OEMs, OES and the aftermarket. Its alarm systems use advanced CANbus and LINbus alarms based on ultra-sound, radar, RF transmitters and receivers, which can be integrated on a system level or offered at a component level. The company s parking aid systems effectively address Cobra s objective of providing safety. They assist the car driver in detecting obstacles in a range of about 2.50 meters in the front and rear of the car when a parking maneuver is being initiated.

The company s stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) infrastructure consists of a network of 29 national service providers and 30 secure operating centers (SOCs) across Europe, which assist local police in recovering stolen vehicles, said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Mohamed Mubarak M.M. Besides, with fleet management solutions that locate vehicles on a real-time basis, Cobra offers customers in Italy and France the capability of analysing and optimising route selection, enabling a reduction in travel costs.

With the ability to track location information of vehicles, Cobra is exploring opportunities in customised pay as you drive (PAYD) or pay per use services that will allow different insurance companies to calculate insurance premiums based on how often, when and where owners drive their vehicles. In addition, Cobra is also examining new opportunities in event monitoring services.
