Cooper-Ellis is the former executive vice president and general manager for the WebLogic Server product line at BEA Systems. While at BEA, he was recognized for growing the WebLogic Server Unit business from its inception to the creation of BEA's flagship product, BEA WebLogic Server, the world's Java application server. BEA Systems was acquired by Oracle Corp. earlier this year.
Cooper-Ellis brings to SpringSource more than 25 years of experience managing enterprise software product development teams including transaction processing systems, messaging systems, Web application servers, Java Virtual Machine (JVM), customer support and security products.
In his new capacity as senior vice president of engineering and product management for SpringSource, Cooper-Ellis will lead SpringSource's global engineering and product management teams that recently unveiled the SpringSource Application Platform, an enterprise Java application server that provides a dramatically simpler alternative to legacy application servers and redefines the way in which Java applications are deployed and run.
