A.M. Best Affirms Ratings of Kemper Investors Life Insurance Company

OLDWICK, N.J., Jun 18, 2008 (A. M. Best via COMTEX) -- ZFSVF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- A.M. Best Co. has affirmed the financial strength rating (FSR) of A- (Excellent) and issuer credit rating of ?a-? of Kemper Investors Life Insurance Company (KILICO) (Schaumburg, IL). KILICO is wholly owned by Kemper Corporation, a non-operating holding company, which is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services (ZFS) (Switzerland). The outlook for both ratings is stable.

The ratings of KILICO reflect ?its very good risk-adjusted capital position and the support received as a member of ZFS through reinsurance and other management and distribution arrangements. Offsetting these positive rating factors are the company?s declining premium income trends and recent statutory operating losses. KILICO also maintains a relatively high position in collateralized mortgage obligations.
