France's Veolia Water picks local to head Japanese subsidiary

TOKYO, Jun 26, 2008 (Asia In Focus via COMTEX) -- TYOQF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- France's VEOLIA WATER plans on Tuesday to name Takuichi Murachi, a former TOYO ENGINEERING CORP. (TSE:6330) director, the new president of its Japanese subsidiary. By having a local executive lead its Japanese arm for the first time ever, one of the world's top water service providers aims to better reach out to future customers in Japan's public and private sectors.

* Murachi, 60, became a Toyo Engineering director in 2002, primarily focusing on foreign operations.

* Formed in 2002, VEOLIA WATER JAPAN KK has built its Japanese business base by acquiring ranks of related businesses engaged in water treatment, facilities maintenance and management, pipe management, meter reading and charge collection.
