ConAgra Foods 4Q profit tops analyst estimates; sees 1Q EPS 26c-28c

BOSTON, Jun 26, 2008 (Thomson Financial via COMTEX) -- CAG | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- ConAgra Foods Inc. Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $201.3 million, or 41 cents a share, including 3 cents a share of expense from items impacting comparability.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, on average, estimated fourth-quarter earnings of 34 cents a share.

Sales for the three months ended May 25 rose 15% to $3.08 billion from $2.67 billion. Wall Street analysts, on average, estimated revenue of $3.49 billion.

The Omaha, Neb.-based packaged food company said that it expects fiscal 2009 earnings, excluding items, of $1.56 to $1.59 a share. For the first quarter, ConAgra forecast earnings of 26 cents to 28 cents a share.

Analysts, on average, estimate fiscal 2009 earnings of $1.60 a share and first-quarter earnings of 33 cents a share.
