Jun 27, 2008 (Fort Worth Star-Telegram - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- RUTH | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Sure, you could spend $45 for a tank of gas.

Or you could stay home in Fort Worth or Dallas and buy a prime steak dinner.

Ruth's Chris Steak House is offering a summer special: a three-course dinner for $44.50.

And this is not a limited menu. The choices include a prime filet, fish, barbecued shrimp or a mixed grill with steak, chicken and a crab cake, plus a salad and a potato or vegetable. There's a choice of seven desserts, including cheesecake and bread pudding.

The Fort Worth steakhouse is open nightly until 10, 11 p.m. on weekends. It's at 815 Main St.; book a table online at ruthschris.com.

By the way, don't leave town from August 11-17. That's Restaurant Week. More than 100 fine-dining restaurants will serve a three-course dinner for $35 and donate part of the money to charities. Go to www.krld.com for the list of restaurants. The list will be available beginning on July 14.

Everybody talks about Southlake. But the big late-night crowds seem to be at Arlington Highlands. One reason is the new Piranha Killer Sushi.

The original Piranha opened in Arlington seven years ago. Now south Arlington is learning about the Forget About It Roll, topped with avocado and crawfish, or the Chef's Boat sushi platter ($42.95); www.piranhakillersushi.com. The Highlands truly will be booming July 5 when it hosts an all-day festival and fireworks show.

Now open: A new Fuzzy's Taco Shop at 115 Industrial St., Denton; 940-380-TACO, www.fuzzystacoshop.com. A similar taco and tequila bar is under construction at 909 W. Magnolia Ave., Fort Worth, in a former burger restaurant.

And the new Mac's Steaks and Seafood in Fort Worth is now scheduled to open Aug. 1.
