HYC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Hypercom Corp. announced that its medCompact has become the first healthcare terminal to pass e-Health BCS (Basic Command Set) functional tests required by Gematik, a German healthcare organization.

Hypercom said that medCompact will be deployed in the second half of this year as part of the migration to the country's health card.

"The successful functional testing of medCompact marks a significant milestone in the launch of our new medline portfolio," explains Frank B ttner, Healthcare Director at Hypercom. "Crossing this important hurdle moves us to the forefront of the new health card introduction."

Hypercom said its medCompact is designed to process both the current German health insurance card (KVK1) and the electronic healthcare card (eGK2). The terminal, which will be installed in doctor's practices and hospitals, was launched in test regions earlier this year, the company noted in a release.
