Angiotech Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ANPI, C$2.93, Unchanged) will form separate operating and royalty businesses. Two investors have agreed to invest a total of $200 million to $300 million in the new subsidiary, which will hold certain business assets and intellectual property.
Cameco Corp. (CCJ, C$42.28, -C$0.22, -0.5%) is reported to have purchased 550 tons of uranium from Iraq, according to the Canadian Press. The deal is estimated to be worth tens of millions of dollars. The Port of Montreal confirmed a vessel carrying uranium arrived Friday from Baghdad and said Cameco would be responsible for the transfer of the uranium to its facilities in Ontario.
Inmet Mining Corp. (IMN.T, C$63.52, C$0.77, 1.2%) plans a C$2-a-share takeover offer for Petaquilla Copper Ltd. (PTC.T, C$1.01, C$0.05, 4.7%).
Labopharm Inc. (DDSS, C$1.82, -C$0.03, -1.6%) has reacquired the sales and marketing rights to its once-daily tramadol product for the U.K. from Recordati Ireland.
