In December, Amazon said it invested an undisclosed amount in Maryland based Bill Me Later, which lets people make online purchases without a credit card. When people use Bill Me Later for the first time, they enter their birth date and the last four digits of their Social Security number, and if the customer is approved via a credit check, they will be able to purchase the item online and receive a bill in the mail for it.
Customers are required to enter the last four digits of their Social Security number for each subsequent use of the service, and in some cases, additional verification steps are needed, according to the Bill Me Later website.
Amazon said it will begin offering the service on Tuesday.
Amazon was enrolled in Investrend Research affiliate ValuEngine's professional analyst program. Complete information is available at the company's InvestorPower(tm) page, which is accessible from http://www.investrend.com/company/list.asp?sPathParam=yes
