The Kenli 10-1-1 well was drilled on the Kenli 10-1 structure on the Laizhou Bay sag. It was drilled to a total depth of 3,148 meters with a water depth of approximately 17 meters, and it encountered around 56.8 meters of oil pay zones.
CNOOC plans to build the Bohai Oilfield into the second largest one around the country. It expects the oilfield to produce 30 million cubic meters of oil equivalent every year after 2010 and discover geological reserves of 150-200 million cubic meters of oil equivalent a year.
Last year, the company made five oil and gas discoveries in the Bohai Bay and pre-prospected 11 structures. It discovered geological reserves of 220 million cubic meters of oil equivalent in the area.
