NOTICE TEXT: Department of the Army U.S. Army Corps of Engineers US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, PITTSBURGH DISTRICT The Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, has a need for excavation of existing flood control channels and installation of revetment mat slope protection at locations along West Carson Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as per project plans and specifications. Work includes two (2) executable awardable options for further work. The major features include: Channel excavation from upstream end of West Carson Street culvert to just downstream of the Northfolk & Southern railroad bridge; installation of revetment mat slope protection on the right bank at the former location of the Plank Street bridge and on the left bank between Plank Street and Alexander Street. The work for awardable Option 1 includes but is subject to change: channel excavation inside the CSX RR and West Carson Street culverts, placement of concrete floor slab inside the West Carson street culvert and the installation of sheet pile walls and stone protection at the creek outfall to the Ohio River. The work for awardable Option 2 includes, but is subject to change, the protection of the South Main Street bridge abutments by placement of concrete floor slab and walls. Actual work for base contract and awardable options will be identified in the IFB documents and plans and specifications for this project. Award of Options will be pending receipt of project funding and real estate clearances. The period of performance will be an estimated 591 calendar days. The actual required period of performance will be contained in the IFB documents. The magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000, inclusive of Options. The Invitation for Bid (IFB) will be issued on-line only on or about 31 July 2008. Requests for hard copy documents will not be honored.
