Wyeth Consumer Healthcare to purchase ThermaCare from Procter & Gamble

Jul 16, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- WYE | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Wyeth Consumer Healthcare, a provider of non-prescription medicines, vitamins and nutritional products and a division of Wyeth (NYSE: WYE), declared on 15 July that the company has executed an agreement to acquire ThermaCare from Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG). ThermaCare is an over-the-counter heat wrap. The wraps use heat therapy to relieve minor arthritis, muscle, joint and menstrual pain.

Wyeth will maintain the facility where the heat wraps are manufactured in Albany, Ga, at the end of the transaction. Reportedly, ThermaCare is currently sold in the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland and Austria.
