The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters is for second-quarter profit of 51 cents a share, and full-year earnings of $1.83 a share.
The company said a 10.2% increase in tonnage from the second quarter of 2007 contributed to the growth in earnings in the second quarter of 2008, and also cited a more stable pricing environment and improved productivity for the anticipated improvement in earnings.
