MALIBU, Calif., Jul 17, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- JNJ | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Sabrina Brierton Johnson, age 11, will appeal the jury's verdict which was announced on July 17, 2008 in her Children's Motrin product liability case against Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) and McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals, a division of McNeil-PPC which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. Her complaint for damages, filed on December 28, 2004 by her parents and guardians ad litems, Ken and Joan Brierton Johnson, alleged strict product liability, negligence and personal injury as a consequence of taking Children's Motrin and suffering a Stevens Johnson Syndrome allergic reaction which left her blind, among other serious injuries, at age six.

Sabrina Brierton Johnson vs. Johnson & Johnson, et. al., Case Number TC 018540.

The trial began June 5, 2008 in Malibu, CA. and the case went to the jury on July 14, 2008. The matter was heard before Los Angeles Superior Court/West District (Malibu) Judge Cesar C. Sarmiento. Miss Johnson was represented by Browne Greene and Alan Van Gelder with the Santa Monica, CA. law firm of Greene Broillet & Wheeler (http://www.greene-broillet.com) and Daniel Balaban with the Law Offices of Brian Witzer in West Hollywood, CA.

"We will take Sabrina Brierton Johnson's case up on appeal," stated Browne Greene, "and won't rest until those responsible are held accountable for her injuries. Johnson & Johnson and McNeil adopted policies that have put children at risk for blindness, serious bodily injury or death because they put corporate profit over consumer safety. Such actions are unconscionable. Just ask Sabrina.

"Sabrina inspires us to move forward," continued Browne Greene, "and we will stand behind her and her cause until she is vindicated. Until that day, Sabrina and all the other brave children and their parents bringing lawsuits against Johnson & Johnson and McNeil represent our only hope at making the public aware of the dangers of Children's Motrin."
