Second quarter results reported by Textron

Jul 18, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- TXT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Multi-industry company Textron Inc (NYSE: TXT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) on 17 July reported second quarter 2008 results for the period ended 28 June 2008.

Net income for the quarter was USD258m or USD1.02 per share, as compared with USD210m or USD0.83 per share in the corresponding quarter of the prior year. For the year-to-date period net income was USD489m or USD1.92 per share, as compared with a net income of USD406m or USD1.59 per share in the corresponding year-to-date period of the prior year.

Textron said that the company continues to expect earnings per share from continuing operations for 2008 to be between USD3.80 to USD4.00 per share and free cash in the range of USD700m to USD750m.
