TOKYO, Jul 22, 2008 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- MS | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- U.S. investment fund Steel Partners has tapped Mark O'Friel to lead its Japanese unit. O'Friel is the former head of Morgan Stanley's equity division in Japan.

As managing director of Steel Partners Japan KK, O'Friel will replace one of its cofounders, Yusuke Nishi, who recently left the company. Steel Partners Japan provides advice to its parent company.
