The contract was awarded by the US Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command on behalf of its organizational partner, the Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence, C4I.
Northrop Grumman has received a $3.3m advance to commence work on the project. It will develop, assemble, test, integrate and deliver the NGC2P system, including all hardware, software, and firmware. It will also provide engineering and logistics services.
Roger Fujii, vice president and general manager of the network communications division at Northrop Grumman's mission systems sector, said: "We are pleased to have the opportunity to provide an integrated solution that will deliver the next generation of command and control data processing capabilities to Navy commanders. This win is consistent with our goal of continuing to advance tactical data system capability and implementation throughout the services."
