The store is in Suite 209 of the Kanawha Valley Distribution Center, 4200 1st Ave. It is across from the Pilot gas station and next to Mabscott Supply Co. Manager Brian Kittle said the store has about 800 square feet of showroom space and about 5,700 square feet of warehouse space. There are two full-time employees.
The store has been open since June 3. Kittle said he hopes to have a grand opening celebration early next month.
Lumber Liquidators' slogan is, "Hardwood flooring for less!" The company's 2007 annual report says, "A fundamental part of our founding philosophy is to provide quality hardwood flooring brands at everyday low prices. We are able to maintain these prices across our product range because we purchase flooring directly from mills and brokers. In addition, we operate a low-cost store model with a 'no-frills' showroom, limited in-store inventory and locations in industrial or commercial areas that carry lower rent expense than many retail stores."
The Nitro store is Lumber Liquidators' second in West Virginia. The company also has an outlet in Martinsburg.
Tom Sullivan, the current chairman of Lumber Liquidators' board of directors, established the company in 1994. As of March 31, the company sold its products through 125 stores in 43 states, a call center, a Web site and a catalog.
Lumber Liquidators is headquartered in Toano, Va., which is between Richmond and Newport News. The company's stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "LL."
The Nitro store's hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The phone number is (304) 759-8639.
