Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM, C$64.80, -C$3.85, -5.6%) said second-quarter net fell to 6 cents a share from 27 cents, hurt by a 56% drop in the realized price of zinc and a 7% drop in zinc sales. Revenue fell 30% to $88 million.
Synenco Energy Inc. (SYN.T, C$8.96, -C$0.01, -0.1%) has agreed to Total S.A.'s (TOT) increased takeover offer of $10.25 a share, up from its previous offer of $9.
Maple Leaf Foods Inc. (MFI.T, C$10.00, -C$0.03, -0.3%) lost 7 Canadian cents a share in the second quarter, compared with a loss of 1 Canadian cent a year earlier. Excluding items, it lost 1 Canadian cent a share compared with a profit of 13 Canadian cents a year earlier.
