During the three months ended June 30, Baidu gained a 64.4% share of the Chinese search engine market in terms of revenues, higher than the 60.7% in the first quarter. However, the market share of Google slid to 26.1% from 26.8% in January-March.
Yahoo! China, ranking the third place in the country's search engine market, respectively snatched an 8.3% and 5.5% in Q1 and Q2.
Thanks to the increasing advertising expenditures of small- and medium-sized companies, China's sales of search engine services in the second quarter amounted to CNY 1.23 billion, leaping 87% from a year earlier. Demand for Internet search services will also jump in the third quarter because of the coming Beijing Olympics Games, according to a forecast.
