For the quarter to June, the motorcycle maker's net profit rose to 2.72 billion rupees from 1.89 billion rupees last year while total revenues, including sales, grew 16 percent to 28.90 billion rupees.
Hero Honda said its cumulative sales during the period increased 11 percent to 894,244 units from 802,853 units, same period last year.
Before the announcement, Hero Honda shares closed 4.23 percent lower at 728.15 rupees at the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex ended 3.89 percent down at 13,791.54. TFN.newsdesk@thomson.com yos/ssa/rfw
