OLDWICK, N.J., Jul 30, 2008 (A. M. Best via COMTEX) -- INDM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The AMBG closed Tuesday, July 29, at 1023.84 (+1.30%). Of the 15 A.M. Best stock indexes, 12 rose and three declined. Leading A.M. Best's Global Insurance Composite Index (AMBG) were Meadowbrook Insurance Group (+13.74%) and ProCentury Corp. (+10.91%). Trailing the list of global insurance stocks were United America Indemnity (-13.30%) and Navigators Group (-8.58%).

The U.S. Multi-Line Insurance Index led the sector indexes, with the Asia/Pacific Insurance Index trailing the list. In descending order, the A.M. Best Insurance Stock Indexes closed at:

The European Insurance Index (AMBEUR) closed at 1129.00 (-0.94%)%. Leading the AMBEUR were Euler Hermes (+4.60%) and Mapfre S.A. (+3.88%). Trailing the AMBEUR were Novae Group plc (-3.43%) and Brit Insurance Holdings (-2.76%).

The Asia/Pacific Insurance Index (AMBAP) closed at 1332.71 (-2.18%). Leading the AMBAP were Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance (+1.64%) and Korean Reinsurance Co. (+1.60%). Trailing the AMBAP were Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Co. Ltd. (-3.72%) and Singapore Reinsurance Corp. (-3.45%).
