Jul 30, 2008 (News & Record - McClatchy-Tribune News Service via COMTEX) -- SFFB | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Jul. 30--Former Page High School tennis star John Isner advanced Tuesday in singles play at the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters Open in Cincinnati. Isner beat Italian Andrea Stoppini 7-6, 6-3. Isner set an ATP record by winning all 39 first-serve points. He fired 17 aces and only lost nine points, all on second serve, in 11 games. Since the ATP began keeping match statistics in 1991, no player had won more than 35 points without losing one in a match. Isner will receive 35 ranking points for the first-round win, which likely will move him up from his current ranking of No. 107. He also won his doubles match. He and teammate Mardy Fish defeated Ti Chen and Phillip King in straight sets 6-4, 7-6.
