MADRID, Jul 31, 2008 (Reuters via COMTEX) -- VOD | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Spain's Telefonica said first-half revenues in Spain grew 2.1 percent year-on-year, driven by a 10.4 percent rise in mobile clients.

The figures contrast with those published last week by rival Vodafone, which blamed a sharp economic slowdown in Spain for weaker-than-expected results and a lower full-year forecast.

Vodafone's Spanish mobile sales dropped 2.5 percent year-on-year in the first half.
