Vimicro Q2 Lost USD1mn

NEW YORK, Jul 31, 2008 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- VIMC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Beijing-based fabless semiconductor producer Vimicro International Corporation (Nasdaq: VIMC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) yesterday reported net losses of USD 1 million for April-June 2008, in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

The company gained net profits of USD 200,000 in April-June 2007 and suffered net losses of USD 3.2 million in January-March 2008.

Net operating revenue reached USD 23.1 million in April-June, higher than USD 16.2 million in January-March but lower than USD 26.5 million in the year-ago period. Non-GAAP net profits, which excludes USD 1.3 million equity incentive expense, amounted to USD 300,000, more than negative USD 1.4 million in January-March 2008 but less than USD 1.6 million in April-June 2007.

Non-GAAP diluted earnings per American depository share (ADS) stood at USD 0.01, lower than USD 0.04 in the prior quarter and in the year-earlier period. Each ADS represents four ordinary shares.

In accordance with GAAP, diluted earnings per ADS were USD 0.03, higher than negative USD 0.09 in the previous quarter and USD 0.01 in the second quarter of 2007.
